They had to make his rank
Official- and he got orders!
He got Norfolk, he should be there
In about 3 weeks for C school
And then he will be assigned
To the LPD 17 San Antonia.
It is a marine transport ship,
And can carry about 800 Marines.
Anyway, C school starts October 28,
And lasts 4 months, so he said he will
Contemplate when to take some leave,
But this looks very hopeful for the holidays!

ReplyDeleteI did not know that Navy sailors could be assigned to Marine ships.
We are all very excited about the possibility of a visit!
Sorry, what I meant was it's a naval ship, but it transports Marines. According to Joseph, the Marines don't actually have boats or planes of their own, they fly Navy jets, and make amphibious landings with Navy transports, like the one Michael will be on.
