Today's bag is Phineas and Ferb.
Being that these characters are pretty primitively drawn (just based on simple shapes), I did not realize how very difficult it is to NOT to make them look creepy. (Phineas- the red haired one, kept channeling "Dexter" somehow).
I know that Phineas and Ferb is a post 2003 cartoon ( it originally broadcast as a preview on August 17, 2007, and officially premiered on Disney Channel February 1, 2008) , but I am hoping that you are still somewhat familiar with it.
I know that you were not as fond of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends as I was (so, we do not always agree), but it is my humble opinion that Phineas and Ferb is THE ONE truly inspired cartoon of the last 5 years or so. (Especially since Teen Titans' original run ended in 2006).
Ok- so I guess The Last Avatar- Air Bender Series are pretty good too- but there is no violence in Phineas and Ferb, so that automatically gives them the win.
PS-
Haha- I am adding today's bag to yesterday's post because you never commented on yesterday's post, thus I am giving you yet another opportunity.
Today's bag is Master Splinter from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Of course there are SOOO many incarnations of Master Splinter.
I prefer the original, William of course prefers the most recent version.
In between there was a grey version;
Splinter was Will's request.
You can tell, that I started drawing the original Splinter , Will walked in as I was drawing and DEMANDED- "What are you doing?"
I answered "Master Splinter, that is what you asked for"...
"MOM , NOT That Splinter he is in PINK"!!!
Look, there is no getting around this issue, I did NOT design these characters.
So...I gave the old Splinter a beard- like the two later incarnations and let Will color the bag.
TADA
You have the wisdom of Solomon. I am sorry, but the most recent version is just creepy and horrible! It must be a cgi issue- cgi steals the soul out of everything, and kills whatever bit of art is left in the world. I am sorry I did not comment on your bag yesterday, I confess to not having the faintest clue who phineas and ferb are, but since I am all for enlightenment, when I got home from work yesterday I went to youtube to see if I could peruse some episodes, and perhaps give a more educated, or at least revel ant opinion. I got through 1 episode and ten life interrupted, and I did not get a further opportunity to look at any more, so I was going to try again this afternoon and then comment. From my first look however, it struck me as innocuous but rather ordinary, and why does every other cartoon now have an annoying older sister as comedy relief? I would probably rate it about the same as Mrs. Foster's in appeal, though I do think the premise for Mrs. Foster's was a tad more original. So those are my preliminary reactions.
